Many designs are composed of two or more layers. Each element of the design will be in a layer, but we may also group elements by colors. It’s depending on the nature of the design itself and what we think is better for the user according to our experience. If you wish to ungroup layered files, you can do so by following these steps:
*Cricut Design Space:
A/ Open the SVG file on your design mat and click on the Layers Panel.
B/ Click anywhere in the design to select it. All the individual layers in the Layers Panel will be highlighted.
C/ With the layers still highlighted, click the Ungroup button on the bottom of the Panel.
D/ You can now work with each layer individually.
*Silhouette Studio Designer Edition:
A/ Open the SVG file on your design mat, select Edit, Layers in the top menu bar. This will open the layers menu on the right side of the screen.
B/ You will see that there is a main layer, with a series of layers detailed below. Click on each layer to move it individually.
More complex designs can have sub-groups within the layers, particularly ones with multiple layers of the same color. In this case, you will see that one of the layers will be labeled Group on the panel. When you click on these layers on the design mat, just right-click to further ungroup and reveal the sub-layers below.
* Brother ScanNCutCanvas: Open the SVG file on your design mat, right-click on the design, and select Ungroup.
* Sure Cuts A Lot: Open the SVG file on your design mat, right-click on the design, and select Ungroup.
PS: If you plan to resize your design, you must do so before ungrouping, so everything remains in proportion.
𝗟𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱: The layered or weld file is pre-made. Easy to apply, but will use more vinyl and you also need transfer tape.
𝗡𝗼𝗻-𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱: you can adjust (move, delete, change) elements. You can also save vinyl with these, though please note that you will have to apply elements one by one.
All designs have an SVG file included. The svg sometimes adopts the icon of the browser (Chrome, Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge) that you download it from. All my SVG’s have the Microsoft Edge icon. Please upload the SVG file with the browser icon to your software as you normally would, it should work just fine. You can also identify the SVG by the file name, which ends in .svg. If you still can’t access it, please contact me and I’ll email it right over.
We do our best to keep errors at a minimum. Our goal is to help you save time in finding design ideas so you can spend more time to grow your business. So if you ever encounter errors in the design, feel free to contact us, specify the bundle's name where the mistake was found and we will report this immediately to our design team. The correct version will be updated shortly.
